Our photography flight with Air Ventures—the eco-friendliest air tour company in Kauai—was one of the highlights of our Hawaiian adventure. Owner Jill Briley and her outgoing staff ensured that everything was air-tight prior to takeoff. With over 8,000 hours of flight time and an engaging personality, Captain Eric ensured that we were safe and entertained from takeoff to landing.
Soaring over Kauai was a truly amazing experience. We covered a lot of ground from the air—the entire Garden Island—in just over an hour with the Big Kahuna tour.
The most epic highlights on an island of breathtaking coastlines were Waita Reservoir (the largest on Kauai), Captain Cook’s Landing, the inspiring Waimea Canyon, the surreal Napali Coastline, Lumahai Beach (where “South Pacific” was filmed), Hanalei Valley, countless beautiful cascading waterfalls and the Kilauea Lighthouse. It is so beautiful that over 60 movies have been filmed here, including Blue Hawaii, King Kong, Jurassic Park, Soul Surfer, The Descendants and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Without further ado, we bestow the “NY See You Later Best Photography Flight” award to Air Ventures.
If we are blessed with a return visit to Kauai in the future, we’ll return to book the biplane adventure!

August 19, 2018 at 1:49 amIt would be a magical location for a honeymoon! We highly recommend getting scuba certified. This isn’t a complete list yet, but here are most of the activities we experienced there. Hope it helps!

August 19, 2018 at 1:44 amDefinitely do! I highly recommend a rubber lens hood for the camera, so the window doesn’t get scratched. It can also help you stabilize your camera against the window.

August 19, 2018 at 1:33 amIt was amazing! It was a small airplane, called a “GA-8 Airvan.” We were able to cover more ground that way.
