La Oveja Negra Restaurant in El Chaten, Argentina

La Oveja Negra, in El Chalten, Argentina, stands out from the pack, as its name, “The Black Sheep,” suggests. Franco runs this establishment with a professionalism beyond his years. The food and drinks are excellent and the rustic, campy decor adds a playful touch. It’s a perfect place for a relaxed, epic dinner and drinks.

The delicious chorizo relleno—a unique sausage—appetizer, chop artesanal beers and Malbec wine, set up the main course, their famous table top mixed grill perfectly. Lamb chops, chicken, filet, skirt steak, kidneys, sausage, lamb stomach, intestine, and blood sausage are options we selected, along with a side of padillada (“grilled”) vegetables.

The salame de chocolate 🍫 is one of the most unique desserts we have ever enjoyed. No actual salami is used, only chocolate and nuts with a side of ice cream. It sounds straightforward, however the taste and appearance are anything but. Don’t visit El Chalten without a visit to La Oveja Negra, and do bring your appetite!

Hi, we’re Dan and Emille. We met at church in NYC in 2010 and in 2011 we were married in Central Park on the bow bridge. In the last 6 years of marriage we stopped paying NYC rent, and bought a place on the edge of Hoboken, NJ, with spectacular views of the NYC skyline, which has been really fulfilling for photography enthusiasts. We have been talking about having kids for the last 6 years, but the New York lifestyle would make it difficult as our families are in Florida and Brazil. So we sold our place and furniture, left some great jobs, and friends and decided to have travel the world before we have kids. We’re cultured, but not fancy. We've been to 21 countries, and would love to visit all of them. We try to experience things like the locals as much as possible.
